Happy Birthday Boomer!
Dear Boomer,
Your birthday party was a lot of fun! I had a great time taking pictures of you and all of your friends while you played with us… not to mention our team won! GO Trenton Thunder!! I bet it was all because of the extra mojo brought by you and the other fabulous mascots at the game. See you in June!
Love,
Big Blue Bird Fan
I couldn’t have asked for a better day for baseball, really: it was warm without being oppressively hot, the sky was perfectly blue with pretty white fluffy clouds, and the vibe at the stadium was pretty good. Certainly not like the vibe you get at say, a Mets vs. Yankees game in the city. And that’s odd, because that’s exactly what this was: Binghamton Mets vs Trenton Thunder – a few levels down, but still. While not a Yankee fan by nature, it’s hard not to be a hometown fan so I was pretty set to be happy with either outcome.
The Mets started strong but fizzled out after the 2nd inning, allowing 11 runs over 2 innings, which let the Thunder to walk off the field to celebrate Boomer’s Birthday in style with a 13-7 win. My buddy Nicole asked for a Grand Slam moments before it was hit and probably had the best score on the day by taking home Phillies heartthrob Chase Utley. I, on the other hand tried Dippin Dots (they’re kinda weird, texturally) for the first time and didn’t burn in the sun – total win! Can’t wait to go back in June
